This is It

“What makes you a good potential tenant?” The apartment manager asked.

Oh, an awkward question. She nervously fiddled with her purse straps under the table.

An answer immediately popped into her mind. Inspiration. Living next to the river would give her the inspiration she needed to finish her book and then an event from last year flashed into her mind…

Joshua, her ex-boyfriend, took her to see his apartment. She was awestruck when she found out he lived next to the river.  He didn’t look like someone that could afford this place.

“Y-you live here?” She stammered as they entered the building.

He chuckled. “Well, I just occupy the top floor, if that’s what you mean but yeah, I do live here.”

Her eyes wandered as they waited for the elevator. Everything about this place was like an inspiration heaven, she thought. As the elevator door opened on the top floor, it opened to the crystal-blue sky and at that moment, she knew. This was it.
